Rain date will be Sunday, June 9th 3:00 p.m. Michael Bolyard LAFAYETTE Carol Tolen, 84, of Lafayette, passed away in her home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 surrounded by her fam- ily. She was born June 17, 1939, to the late Roy and Margaret (Kanable) Daniels.

She attended Michigantown High School (class of 1957) and participated in the school band. She married her high school sweetheart, Gene Fausett and they later divorced. Her second mar- riage was to Paul J. Tolen. Sr.

and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1990. Carol worked as an Assistant Manager for Village Square Apartments for more than twenty years before retiring in 2013. She was also a profes- sional seamstress and worked in the Thorntown Garment Factory. Carol was a dedicated wife and mother, and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, playing piano, collecting elephant statues and decorating her home, which was her pride and joy. She was fun! Her laugh was heart-warming and her smile would brighten your day.

Surviving are her children, Gene Ann (Russell) Fausett, Damon Fausett and Gerrod Fausett all of Lafayette and Steve (Nancy) Fausett of Bedford. A sister, Bettie Smith of Frankfort and a brother, Bob (Mary) Daniels of Lebanon. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and several great grand- children. Carol was preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Daniels and Virginia Caldwell and two brothers, Harry and Tom Daniels. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Soller-Baker Lafay- ette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.

Plantenga, 87, of La- fayette, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Creasy Springs. Alvin was born July 5, 1936 in Lafayette, IN, to the late Ralph and Ella (Hockema) Plantenga.

He was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for over 6 years. On March 28, 1975 he married the love of his life, Jean C. Bergman and she survives. Alvin was a Bus Driver for West Lafayette School Corp for over 35 years.

He was a member of La- fayette Christian Reformed Church. He was a former Scout Master, Along with his wife, Jean, he is survived by his two sons: Chris Franceschina of Dayton, IN and Ruben Orta of Somerset, KY; brother: Harold (Mary) Plantenga; grandchildren: Jacob and Me- gan Franceschina and Kasey and Christopher Orta. Alvin is preceded in passing by his parents; four sisters and four brothers. Visitation will be held from 12pm 1pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 1pm with Pastor Nick Ahrens Entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Jafvert on October 14, 1930 and died on April 21, 2024 (93 years old). Don leaves his wife, Bess L. (nee Wharrie) Jafvert (married 72 years), and son Todd Jafvert of Perry, IA (wife Cindy Jafvert); son Chad Jafvert of West Lafayette, IN (wife Mary Jafvert); and daughter Jane Rollins of Lincolnton, NC (husband Brian Rollins).

Also surviving are brother Warren Jafvert of Tuscon, Az (wife Ruth), seven grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Don met Bess at the University of Dubuque in Iowa, where she was the campus nurse and he was the 1952 Class President. Don and Bess were married in Coal City IL, the hometown of Bess. They then moved to San Anselmo, CA where Don studied at the San Francisco Theological Seminary (now part of the University of Redlands). He grad- uated from Seminary in 1955 and over the next 42 years served as senior pastor in churches: McCallsburg Presbyterian Church (Iowa), Grundy Center Presbyterian Church (Iowa), Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids IA, Market Square Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, PA (founded in 1795), and The Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church on Fort Myers Beach, FL.

While in McCallsburg, Don was awarded the distinguished Rural Pastor of the Year by the Presbyterian Church. While in Cedar Rapids, he was redeployed by the Presbyterian Church to work in Detroit following the 1967 riots for three months. While in Harrisburg, Don was instrumental in establishing a Korean church and ministry. While in Florida, Don was elect- ed to be the Moderator of the Peace River Presbytery. In the congregations he served, he conducted 647 weddings, 609 baptisms, 506 funerals, and received 2230 new members (his churches always grew).

Don and Bess enjoyed traveling and over the years visited 69 countries, and in retirement he often served as chaplain on cruise ships. After retirement in 1995, Don and Bess lived in Hickory, NC until moving in 2016 to Westminster Village, in West Lafayette, IN. remains will be buried in a family cemetery plot in Braidwood, IL. The family will hold a memorial service in May. Donald Robert Jafvert LAFAYETTE Jerry Lee Vohar, 64, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born Novem- ber 15, 1959, in Salina, Kansas. He married La- Donna Sue Ellis. They later divorced, but have remained great friends. He then committed to Coral Eve Smith. They both survive.

Jerry was a graduate of Berea High School in Cleveland, OH, and then went on to welding school. He worked various jobs in his teen years, then as an engineer for 36 years at WLFI TV and then Lock Shop and the United States Postal Service. Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4-7pm at Day Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather at 9 Irish Brothers, State Road 38, Lafayette, on May 16, 2024, from 6-9pm. Attendees may purchase refreshments and fare from their menu.

A celebration of life will also be planned in Cleveland at a later date.
