Last week I thought I was close to summer (yes, I know it was still January then) but all the snow had melted and I was dreaming of summer bbq’s. Then snowmageddon happened, so I’m doing BBQ my way with this Paleo BBQ Saucerecipe. The benefits of this homemade barbecue sauce? It has less sugar, fewer carbs, and fewer calories than most store boughtsauces. That and it aligns with the paleo diet, so it’s perfect for most lifestyles!
I love a good BBQ sauce, it makes or breaks the dish in my opinion. This homemade paleo barbecue sauce is delicious and best of all, it’s a healthier option for grilling.

Yes, this is how a blogger cooks (raise your hand if you can agree). I usually try to keep the computer on the other side of my kitchen and use a notebook up close but today I decided to walk on the wild side. I actually created two posts with this one dinner, this recipe for Paleo BBQ Sauce and BBQ Chicken Cauliflower Pizza.
In the beginning, the sauce looks a little water, but once it simmers down (insert Dr.Evil here) and reduced you’ll see it’s thick and has a perfect consistency.
This recipe for paleo bbq sauce has been adapted from one of my new favorite blogs, Paleo Newbie (her turkey vegetable meatloaf is to die for and where I found the original version of this recipe). I made a few adaptations, loved the results and wanted to share this with all of you.
Enjoy.

This jar doesn’t last long, as I tend to put it on everything. It seriously doesn’t last this family more than a week but Paleo Newbie says her original recipe is good for a month.
Recipes using this paleo barbecue sauce:
- Pulled Pork Sundae
- Pulled Pork Quesadillas
In addition to those recipes, this healthy bbq sauce is amazing on grilled chicken, oven roasted pork, or turkey meatloaf muffins.
