I hate to tell you we have been here since last Saturday and even these less than solar-spectacular days have been wonderful for us. Enjoying every minute of it.

We once had two weeks in South Nags Head when it rained every single day except the first day we were there - I went deep sea fishing that day - had a great time.
And we still really enjoyed that vacation - no regrets - none!

Spent a June week in Duck 13 years ago in which it was cold, windy and non-stop, torrential rain we were only able to get physically out on the beach for about 45 minutes the entire 7 days and even then it was so cold and windy we had to wear hooded jackets to tolerate it that long - horrible week from Hell. We had a house full of young kids and didn't bring all that much to keep them entertained. And we didn't know the outer banks well enough then to explore off-the-beach activities. Ever since then, we've been packing tons of extra things/activities and haven't needed them since.

5 straight days of rain on Ocraco*ke didn't slow me or 2 kids down one bit. In fact it made the vehicles go more slowly since the roads become one lane, making bikes the preferred mode of transportation. It was sort of funny to hear the out of town folks wondering "What happens if it keeps raining & the island floods?" Not that i enjoy discussing the septic system of the OB...:smiley44:

Isn't Noah's Ark still docked in Nagshead somewhere?

Please forgive me, but after last week's marathon of sun, this week's clouds are a blessing to me; one who freckles and burns even with a high UV umbrella and gobs of sunscreen.Bought a stunt kite at KHKites for the kids. They are having a blast with it in these easterlies. and what a joy to be down here on the beach with easteries instead of a land breeze. Never before in the history of all our vacationing down here have we had weather this cool.Lots of z's, games, eating (fudge and crabs), getting pool and beach time (you'd be surprised what UV rays you can catch through a cloud, trust me on this).

Amen to that! I got one of the worst burns of my life on a cloudy day...blisters too...I'm a 50/55 SPF user now and it works wonders... Enjoy your time whatever the weather is! :smiley44:

I would gladly trade one of our "good" weather days here for one of your "bad" weather days there Z.:martini_shaken:

Hey all my days are good here regardless of the weather. Finally got a bad day so I could get a haircut. I just feel bad for those here this week that were looking forward to basking in the sun and watching the ocean.

We probably shouldn't concern ourselves with haircuts. Ya know?
